      <image:caption>John Ramos II, a leading education and community development figure, currently serves as Principal of Interdistrict Discovery Magnet School in Bridgeport, CT. His unwavering commitment to equity initiatives has led to transformative changes within the school and district, instilling confidence and reassurance in his leadership.  Through his leadership and support as Assistant Principal of Bunnell High School for 3 years, the school witnessed the establishment of various student leadership groups, the inception of an annual Cultural Showcase, and the prestigious recognition as a No Place for Hate School. Inspired by the CAS/CIAC Men of Color in Leadership Conference, Mr. Ramos initiated Bunnell's Men of Color Leadership Group in 2021, providing members with a safe environment for weekly meetings, volunteer projects, and leadership conferences.  Before his role in Stratford, John Ramos II was the School Counseling Department Coordinator at Harding High School in Bridgeport, CT. With over 12 years of experience coaching high school football and wrestling, he brings a wealth of knowledge and dedication to his transformative leadership approach, emphasizing equity, proactive social-emotional strategies, and restorative practices.  Mr. Ramos holds an Administrator Certification from Quinnipiac University, a Master’s degree in Counseling Education from UMass Amherst, an Education Specialist degree in Leadership/Administration from UMass Amherst, and a Bachelor’s degree in African-American Studies from Morehouse College.  Deeply committed to the Bridgeport community, John is Director of Educational Activities &amp; Development for Adversity to Prosperity, a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to uplifting communities through youth athletic programs, service, and education. He has held the position of Director of Educational Activities for the Zeta Phi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. for eight years, as well as Director of Educational Activities for ONECA (Organization of New England Chapters of Alpha), impacting educational reach and community engagement.       <image:caption>Meet Dr. John Ramos, Sr., an education trailblazer whose career spans the globe, from high school principalships in Providence, RI, and Norwalk, CT, to international consulting in South Africa and Qatar—including roles as a state deputy commissioner and Bridgeport Superintendent of Schools. Driven by a passion for transformative leadership and education, he founded the Equity and Excellence Imperative (EEI) in 2012.  Since its inception, EEI has left an indelible mark on various fronts. Dr. Ramos has lent his expertise as Superintendent for Groton, CT (Interim), Watertown, CT (Interim), and South Orange, NJ, in addition to being the CEO/Principal of the Middle East International School in Doha, Qatar. EEI has also played a pivotal role in fostering diversity through consultation and workshops in Regions 1, 14, 15, Somers, and Watertown, CT, with Dr. Ramos often featured as a convocation speaker.  Collaborating with Partners for Educational Leadership, EEI has been instrumental as a Leadership and Instructional Coach, local Boards of Education facilitator, and Capacity and Coherence facilitator. In Washington, DC, the Alliance for Educational Excellence has benefited from Dr. Ramos’ role as a Student Voice researcher and program developer. Newark, NJ, witnessed instructional improvement initiatives through EEI's collaboration with the National Urban Alliance in Stamford, CT.  The impact extends to Superintendent searches conducted in partnership with Ray and Associates and the CT Association of Boards of Education. Dr. Ramos remains steadfast in his mission, acknowledging the ongoing challenges in education, stating, "For as much as we have done to improve educational quality and outcomes in the U.S., our challenges remain formidable... let alone a larger vision to deliver quality education to children and young adults throughout the world. For 18 years, she has dedicated herself to revolutionizing K-12 and higher education by dismantling inequitable systems and fostering environments where every student can thrive. Dr. Daniels has been at the forefront of educational reform, focusing on implementing data-driven decision-making processes, cultivating meaningful relationships with staff and students, developing innovative and inclusive curricula, providing expert coaching to educators and administrators, and courageously challenging and reforming inequitable systems that impede student learning and well-being. In her current roles, Dr. Daniels is an educational consultant and coach, partnering with school districts across Connecticut, Massachusetts, Delaware, North Carolina, Washington, D.C., and Georgia to drive systemic change. She also holds the Senior Managing Director of Leadership and Development position at Teach for America, where she shapes the next generation of educators. Her extensive experience includes pivotal roles such as Assistant Superintendent, Director of School Leadership and Accountability, Executive Director of Post-secondary Success and Alternative Programs, School Principal, Assistant Principal, and Lead Teacher. Each position has contributed to her holistic understanding of the educational landscape and reinforced her commitment to equity. Throughout her career, Dr. Daniels has worked tirelessly to change practices, structures, and politics in K-12 and higher education to create equitable student learning environments. In collaboration with teachers and school leaders, she has achieved significant impact through her multifaceted approach to educational reform. Her wealth of experience in various academic roles has given her a comprehensive understanding of the educational system's challenges and opportunities, enabling her to effect change at multiple levels. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Dr. Daniels is a proud parent to her son, Elijah, who is pursuing a degree in Psychology.       <image:caption>Bio | Senior Advisor As Superintendent of Schools for the Town of Bloomfield, CT, James Thompson was recognized as one of the state’s most respected educational leaders for improving student performance and reducing the academic achievement gap. Dr. Thompson had a long, distinguished career in public education as a teacher, vice principal, principal, assistant superintendent, and superintendent. His focus was primarily on districts where the population was mainly at or below the poverty level. Through his leadership, Dr. Thompson has led teams that transformed low-performing schools into ones identified state-wide, regionally, and nationally for academic improvement. While serving as principal, the Simpson-Waverly Elementary School in Hartford, CT, received the national No Child Left Behind-Blue Ribbon School award. In 2003, Simpson-Waverly was one of six schools recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in its report: Learning from Six High Poverty, High Achieving Blue Ribbon Schools. In recognition of his leadership and contribution to the success of Simpson-Waverly, he was named Administrator of the Year in 1995 by the Hartford Principals and Supervisors' Association and in 2005 by the Hartford Public Schools. Dr. Thompson is highly regarded as a mentor, coach, and builder of collaborative teams. As a result, he has received numerous awards, including the 2018 Connecticut Superintendent of the Year, the 2016 Man of the Year by Connecticut’s African American Affairs Commission, and the CT NAACP as one of the 100 Most Influential Blacks in Connecticut. After graduating from Hartford Public High School, Dr. Thompson received his Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Fayetteville State University in North Carolina. After completing his undergraduate studies, he returned to Hartford, Connecticut, and began his career as an elementary school teacher. He received his Master’s Degree in Urban Education from the University of Hartford and a Doctor of Education Degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
